The major purpose of UVG can be divided to 3 parts.
Allow site users to add new videos: in some case you add videos by your self, but in community websites you may want your users to add videos, UVG works in both situations, the configuration module can be used to set which roles are allowed to add new items. UVG also support adding internet videos, if you already know the url of an .flv video, you can specify its url and you don't need to upload it.
Convert uploaded videos to Flash Video format: this is the most "featured" feature of this product. UVG can convert videos in other formats to Flash Video(.flv) format, which is designed by Macromedia(now Adobe) , Flash Video format provides a good balance of video quality and bandwidth cost, so it is ideal to be used on internet, video conversion is a fast and automated process and you may never notice it.
